The Bombay High Court on Tuesday postponed the hearing of a petition, filed by a hacker, who said he had found of call records between fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, and former state revenue minister Eknath Khadse. “What is your locus standi?” Justices Naresh Patil and Prakash Deu Naik questioned the petitioner.

The petitioner Manish Bhangale’s lawyer, Sandesh Sawant told the court that Bhangale had found details of call records between Dawood and Khadse. “The petitioner has managed to get information of one Mehzabeen Shaikh’s call records, a resident of Pakistan, and he has found five Indians were called from that landline number in Pakistan,” said advocate Sawant.
“Who is Shaikh? And how can we believe you are giving all true information? Have you ever lodged an FIR in the matter?” asked Justice Patil.
“Shaikh is the wife of Dawood, his landline number is registered in her name in Pakistan. We have some documents like bills and frequent calling list of that landline number. National security is involved, there are very influential people involved,” said Sawant.
“We are not concerned about influential people. Why did you not approach the police?” asked Justice Patil.
“We did approach police, in fact Mumbai Crime Branch recorded my client’s statement, but gave a clean chit in a hurry to the former revenue minister. Now the ATS is calling him, but he wants a CBI inquiry into the matter. Please give us more time, he has some more evidence which I would like to produce before your lordship,” said Sawant.
The justice postponed the matter for four weeks and asked the petitioner to add more evidence in the petition.
The state has appointed senior counsel Nitin Pradhan in the case to represent it.
Meanwhile, another petitioner, Dilip Aloni, sought intervention in Bhangale’s petition. Aloni said his petition must be dismissed, as he was doing it all for publicity.
