Dirt cheap: Babu used to sell theu00a0stolen cars for as little as Rs 50,000
to mechanics

In 2006, while Babu was lodged in the jail for vehicle lifting, he came in contact with Suresh, who was also in on similar charges. The duo became friends, and hatched a plan to steal cars, and use the spares to refit other cars. After his release, Babu started stealing cars, and selling it to Shavar, a friend of Suresh. In total, Babu stole 8 cars, and sold them for a mere Rs 50,000-60,000. Shavar was making a lot of money, but he didn't share it with Babu. This made Babu sad, but he couldn't do much about it, for obvious reasons.

After his release in December last year, Suresh approached Babu and asked him about the profits. But he realised Shawar has been cheating him, because he had said that they sold each car for Rs 1.2 lakh. But since they couldn't do much about it, Suresh suggested that Babu steal cars and sell them directly to customers.

According to the plan, Babu stole a car, and Suresh set up a client. But the client got suspicious because the car was worth Rs 5 lakh, and the price quoted was just 50,000. He immediately informed the police, and Babu was arrested on the spot.

PI MG Ratnakar, Chamrajpet police station said, "Babu has more than 20 cases of vehicle lifting against him. We have sent him to judicial custody. We are yet to discover their other attempts."
