Jyotsna Bagul murder accused Yogesh Bacchav finally taken to Sassoon hospital

Unable to afford treatment at a private hospital in Nigdi, Yogesh Bacchav, accused in Jyotsna Bagul murder case, wanted to shift to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) hospital in Pimpri, but was refused admission by medical officers there. Bacchav was then shifted to the Sassoon General hospital for further treatment on Sunday evening.

Bacchav was arrested by Chinchwad police on Friday after he stabbed 20-year-old Jyotsna on Friday morning in Akurdi for allegedly refusing his marriage proposal. Jyotsna died on the spot while Bacchav was admitted to Lokmanya hospital in Nigdi.

A cousin of Bacchav said, "We wanted to shift Yogesh to the YCM hospital as we could not afford the treatment expenses at the private hospital. But doctors at YCM told us to take Yogesh to Sassoon for unexplained reasons. So, we shifted Yogesh to the Sassoon hospital on Sunday late evening."

Director of Lokmanya hospital Dr Kiran Bhise said, "Bacchav's condition was critical when he was admitted. He had severe internal bleeding because of the four injuries he sustained by stabbing himself. Although his condition is stable, his family members wanted to shift him to the YCM hospital. Now he has been admitted to the Sassoon hospital"

"As Bacchav is in police custody he was to be kept under police protection. Lokmanya hospital does not have the facility of custody ward and Bacchav needed medical attention at least for next 10 days," Dr Bhise added.
