Mumbai: Nagpur BJP leader Dharampal Meshram has lodged a complaint at Nandanvan police station against unknown persons for circulating an old photograph of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his family on vacation in Goa some years ago. In a statement issued here today, Meshram said that that the incident has hurt sentiments of many BJP workers and more such complaints would be lodged by party workers across the state of Maharashtra.

BJP sources said that the old photograph of Fadnavis and his family vacationing in Goa was shot years ago, is from their personal social media account.

The same photograph is now being passed off as if the Maharashtra Chief Minister and his family are enjoying a vacation in the USA at present, BJP sources said. Meshram stated in his complaint that the photograph was uploaded on social media platforms like WhatsApp at a time when the Maharashtra Chief Minister is in the United States of America on an official visit to attract foreign investment.

Circulation of such photographs on the social media is aimed at tarnishing his image, he stated, adding that the photograph of the Maharashtra Chief Minister and his family was not taken in USA.
"However, some anti-social elements are making deplorable attempts to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister," he said.

It may be recalled that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis issued a statement from the USA denying any role in the Air-India flight take off delay and vowed to initiate action against a section of the media which carried the news item.
