Two days after the decomposed body of a 63-year-old woman was found in her 10th floor flat of Belscot Tower in Lokhandwala, the Oshiwara police recovered a one-line suicide note from her bedroom.

Confirming the development, Subhash Khanwilkar, senior police inspector of Oshiwara police station said, the note reads as 'Meri maut ka koi zimmedar nahi hai' (no one is responsible for my death). It also bears the signature of the deceased Asha Sahani.

Just one line
Speaking to mid-day, a police officer said, “On Tuesday, forensic experts and a police team visited her apartment for further investigation. While scanning the flat, they found an envelope on a small table in her bedroom. Just one line was written in it. We asked the deceased's son to verify her signature and he confirmed that it was his mother's handwriting.”

The police also recovered a diary and a telephone directory from the spot.

Asha's body was found on her bedroom floor on Sunday. Police suspect that she might have consumed poison. They are waiting for the chemical analysis report, which will confirm whether it is suicide.

Not in touch
The deceased's son Ruturaj, who stays in the United States, was not in touch with his mother since April last year. Whenever he tried calling her, her phone was switched off. The society members had approached the police after they failed to reach her. When her flat's electricity supply was disconnected six months back, the society administration contacted Ruturaj through an email. In reply, he had promised to come to India to sort out the matter.

On Sunday when he reached the apartment and found it locked, he immediately informed the Oshiwara cops. When they opened the flat using a duplicate key, they found Asha's decomposed body lying on the floor.
