Police solve Hiranandani terror emails case

A team of the Anti Terrorism Squad and Mumbai police, which was sent to Kerala, on Saturday apprehended the man who sent terror emails to the Hiranandani office

A team of the Anti Terrorism Squad and Mumbai police, which was sent to Kerala, on Saturday apprehended the man who sent terror emails to the Hiranandani office. Anand Kumar (45), a Saudi Arabia-returned garment trader, has allegedly accepted that he had sent the email threats.

The Mumbai team on Saturday visited Kumar's house in Vadakancherry, Trichur, and took him for questioning.

Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS) Parambir Singh confirmed the development. Assistant police inspectors Nasir Kulkarni and Prakash Patil of Powai police station, part of the team, will escort him to Mumbai shortly.u00a0

Preliminary inquires have revealed that Kumar is a B.Com graduate and is into garment trading for quite some time. His wife is employed and they have two children.

Kumar was responsible for sending a series of threat emails from karmaviswa@yahoo.com to Saji Nair at sales@hiranandani.net.

The first email was sent in the second week of February 2009. The mail was then referred to the police.
