In order to acclimatise well with conditions ahead of the London Olympics, India's top discus thrower Krishna Poonia has started training at Basildon Sporting Village, a multi-sport and recreational facility, on Wednesday
Poonia, along with her husband and coach Virender, reached London on July 3, PTI reported yesterday.u00a0

“We decided to reach London early and this was decided much earlier. We had given a training schedule to the Sports Ministry long time back and in that we said we would want to be in London one month before the actual day of the event,” she was quoted as saying.
“There is day-night difference between United States and UK and it would be hard to adjust fast to the conditions here.
So we decided to reach London much earlier to adapt to the conditions. “Many top athletes from other countries have also reached and are training here though I am the only Indian,” added Poonia, who trained in United States for three months.
