Discus thrower Krishna Poonia, who will be representing India in the London Olympics, won the silver medal with an effort of 62.34m in the Post Pre Elite Women’s event at Portland, USA yesterday.
Recently Poonia wasn’t at her best as she missed out on a medal in the Perfontaine Classic Diamond League at Eugene in USA a couple of days ago.
But yesterday, her slightly-improved performance was enough to get her a medal. Russian Darya Pischalnickova won the gold with an effort of 66.38m in her fifth attempt while Poonia’s best came in her second attempt.u00a0
