Dhanaji Chogale (40), a JSW Steel canteen supervisor, died after he lost his balance after his bike hit a pothole. At the same time, a truck from Mumbai to Nagothane ran over him. The incident took place near Vashi naka on the Mumbai-Goa highway on Saturday morning.

According to a timesofindia report, Dhanaji, who is a Shiv Sena sub-branch head, was heading from Pandharpur to purchase vegetables at Pen. Dhanaji's brother Umesh, wrote a letter to the Pen police in which he alleged, "The concessionaire has been avoiding repairs. Accidents are due to potholes. If the police do not file a case against the company, we will not take Dhanaji's body."

The family took the body for cremation after much persuasion. Head constable N N Yerunkar told timesofindia, “The truck driver crossed the highway median. He fled the spot. Dhanaji had fractured his leg and had serious wounds on his head. He died on the spot, and an accidental death case has been registered."

According to reports, Dhanaji has two sons, and a daughter.
