Off-spinner Ramesh Powar scalped five as Mumbai pocketed three points by virtue of their 102-run first innings lead in the drawn Ranji Trophy Elite Group match against Uttar Pradesh (UP) yesterday.
Resuming at 166 for 2, the hosts lost opener Bhuvneshwar Kumar (62) in the third over, while Parvinder Singh (51) was bowled by Powar shortly.
Captain Suresh Raina (58) could only add 23 runs with A Alam (4). Raina was shown the door three overs later when Kaustubh Pawar ran him out. Piyush Chawla (6) too didn't last long. Then, despite ER Dwivedi and RP Singh's gritty innings, Uttar Pradesh ended their first innings at 312, conceding a 102-run lead to Mumbai.
At close, Mumbai were 11 for two in their second innings thus registering three crucial points by virtue of their first innings lead.
