The 33-year-old actress is already creating waves internationally with her maiden American TV series 'Quantico'. She also won her first international honour recently, People Choice Award for the best actress in a new TV series.
'Baywatch' is Paramount's big-screen take on the 1990s television series about California lifeguards.
Seth Gordon is directing the feature, which is paddling toward a shoot with Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach also suiting up, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Earlier this month, Johnson took introduced Model Kelly Rohrbach, who will be playing the role of C.J. Parker -- a character Pamela Anderson made famous on the 1990s show.
A pleasure welcoming @kellyrohrbach to our #BAYWATCH family for the iconic role of "CJ Parker". Yes, she's a walking smoke stack but more importantly... she's smart, tough and funny. Just the way we like 'em. Get ready world, we can't wait to bring you our generation's #BAYWATCH! You'll have fun... ðÂÂÂÂÂÂð¾ðÂÂÂÂ¥ð¯ðÂÂÂÂÂÂð (last emoji somewhat inappropriate).
The Rock posted a video on Instagram of him and Kelly Rohrbach adding a twist to the show's classic slow-motion running scenes.
The movie centres on the leader of an elite group of lifeguards (Johnson), who is forced to team up with a young, hotshot former Olympian (Efron) to save their beloved bay.
Scheduling conflicts with the film's shoot and Priyanka's American show 'Quantico' still need to be worked out, but if signed, the actress would play the story's villain.
