Robert Vadra joined wife to drum up support for brother-in-law Rahul at the campaign trail in Amethi, said he'll enter political field if people want him to
Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra yesterday expressed his willingness to join active politics. "When the time is right, if it is what is required at that time, and if the people want me to, I'll definitely take a plunge into active politics," said Vadra while campaigning Uttar Pradesh.

Hitting the campaign trail, Vadra, along with his daughter, joined wife Priyanka Gandhi to drum up support for brother-in-law Rahul in Amethi. However, Vadra stressed that he is lending support as a family member to take forward Rahul's message, though both Rahul and Priyanka do not require any help.
"The family I married into is in politics. It's something I cannot run away from," he said.
When asked if Priyanka would enter electoral politics, Vadra said, "Everything has its own time. Right now it's Rahul's time, then it will be Priyanka's time... I am never going to hint that. It's her wish and you know the people love her."
However, the Congress remained tightlipped on the topic. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, spokesperson of the Congress Party, was quizzed for long by reporters on Vadra's comment. However, he maintained that he was not aware of it.
BJP, on the other hand, said that it was their personal matter. "It's better we leave it to them to decide," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
Vadra's comment on joining politics may give more ammunition to the Opposition parties, who have also accused the Congress of indulging in dynastic politics.

Rahul Gandhi yesterday said he wasn't running for the prime minister's post.
"My obsession is not to be PM. My obsession is to work for the people," the Congress general secretary told reporters on the last day of campaigning for the first of the seven-phased UP polls due to beginu00a0 on Wednesday.
Without naming him, the Gandhi scion hit out at BJP veteran LK Advani, saying some senior politicians were obsessed with prime ministership.
Meanwhile, it is said that PM Manmohan Singh too will hold public rallies in UP. While the places where he will address the meetings have not been identified, one rally will be in eastern UP and another in the western part of the state. One of the rallies could take place next week.
