CCTV cameras installed at the society premises captured the movement of the thieves and based on the footage, police are investigating the case.

Geeta Nitin Mudgir (50), whose flat was burgled, lodged an FIR at Marketyard police station yesterday. She is a widow and lives alone.

“Mudgir had gone to her relatives’ place on Wednesday night and had locked her flat. She decided to stay overnight at her relatives’ place and return the following day.

On Thursday morning, however, she received a call from her neighbour that her flat had been burgled,” said police inspector (Crime) Vilas Sonde, Marketyard police station.

“When Mudgir reached home, she found her clothes strewn all over the house, after which she informed the police. When we reached the spot, it was revealed that gold, diamond jewellery and Rs 60,000 in cash — collectively valued at Rs 4.13 lakh — was stolen by the burglars from Mudgir’s flat,” Sonde added.

“The accused had broken open the door of the flat with some tools.

CCTV footage shows three persons moving suspiciously around the society premises. Their faces were covered with handkerchieves to hide their identity. Based on the footage, we are checking the antecedents of all criminals on police record to ascertain whether any of them were involved in this crime.”
