The caste scrutiny committee (CSC) under Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institution (BARTI) started its work early this year, to avoid the rush that follows the announcement of Std XII results every year
Making things easier for students who face uncertainty every year while seeking their caste validation certificates, the caste scrutiny committee (CSC) under Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institution (BARTI) started its work early this year, making special efforts to settle many pending cases. Officials claim that they took the decision to dispose of a maximum number of pending cases in order to avoid the inevitable last minute rush every year that follows the announcement of HSC results.
“We have started handing over the caste validation certificates to the students of Stds XI and XII since January. The students of the science stream received their certificates before the month of March. We have settled 7,655 cases out of 9,140 applications that we received from students across the district,” said Dr Pardeshi, director of BARTI. But 1,485 students are still waiting for their certificates.
“There are two reasons for the pending cases. Many students did not submit the documents that are necessary to seek the certificate. Another important reason is that there was no full-time chairperson for the CSC to settle these cases in time,” added Parihar.
OBC, SC, and ST students who wish to apply for professional courses like medicine, engineering, and architecture under reserved category have to attach their caste certificates to avail the facilities. “However, only the caste certificate, which is given by the revenue department, is not sufficient. To avoid cases of fake caste certificates, it is necessary to seek caste validation certificates,” said Parihar.
An official from BARTI informed that students could still seek the certificate through the community facilitation centres. “We have established 15 SETU centres at the district level, where students would be able to get the certificates. They can also apply online to get the certificates,” said Parihar.
