A 24-year-old bank employee who was raped for the past ten months mustered courage and headed to Lashkar police station to file an FIR against her molester.
The accused has been identified as Sujeet Vasant Jadhav (29), a driver living in Camp area. The victim, who works with a national bank, also lives in the same locality. When he got the news of the victim approaching the cops, he attempted suicide by taking sleeping pills.

When police went to arrest Jadhav, he was in an unconscious state. He was immediately rushed to Sassoon Hospital for treatment and the victim was made to undergo a medical check-up, which showed that she was raped.
The victim in her statement said that 10 months ago, Jadhav started harassing her and threatened her to have physical relations with him or else he would commit suicide and hold her responsible for it in his suicide note. Jadhav’s mother is also said to be involved in this matter, so an FIR has been registered against her as well. Both of them are in police custody.
Senior Police Inspector Barkat Mujawar told mid-day, “We have registered the FIR under IPC Section 309 (attempt to commit suicide) and sections 376, 34 and 420 for sexual harassment of the woman. The investigation is in progress.”
“We appeal to all women in the city to come forward if any such problems are faced. Immediate and strict action will be taken,” he added.
