In yet another shocking case of dad raping daughter, a 19-year-old Pune girl has lodged a complaint against her 46-year-old father for raping her for eight years. The man even made video clips of the same to blackmail the teenager. The incident came to light after the girl, who was pursuing her business administration studies, confided in colleague and friend, unable to bear the trauma anymore.

The shocking incident was initially tackled by Pune city police’s Grievance Redressal cell inspector, who had come to campus a month back to discuss child abuse. Later, the inspector personally approached the victim, and registered the case with the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station, which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune city police on Tuesday.
The victim is pursuing her first year BBA, while her father who works as a cashier in a hotel. Speaking to mid-day, the victim said, “From my fifth standard, my father used to get very cosy with me. Initially, I thought it might be love, but later he used to touch my private parts. I told my mother about it, but she started beating me claiming this will ruin her marriage. One day, I woke up, and saw that my inners were removed slightly. He used to constantly molest, and manhandle me.”
She went on to add, “Most of the times he used to purposely send my mother to our native village in Konkan along with my brothers. When I demanded to go, he used to tell my mother that he needed me to cook food and take care of the house. He then used to sexually abuse me and threaten me at knife-point, claiming that if I do not do as per his wish, he would kill my mother and two brothers. My father also made a couple of clippings in which I was either having a bath or being raped. He threatened me if I tell anyone, he will commit suicide, but after uploading the videos on social networking sites.”
After the incident came to light, the victim left the house, and the college where she is studying has given her a part-time job in the campus as library assistant. She will be staying in hostel and the Women’s Grievance Redressal cell has pooled in some money and has handover it to her for her education.
The victim’s friend told mid-day, “The victim is a very decent girl and introvert. We both shared same bench and used to go for outings. I use to share with her about my father and mother and how much care they take of me. Once, the victim cried and told tell me that she wanted to share some secret with me. When she revealed what she had gone through, I was completely shocked. I approached the Women’s Grievance Redressal Cell inspector and the counsellor on the same.”
Inspector Pratibha Joshi, in-charge of Women Grievance Redressal cell, said, “The Bharti Vidyapeeth police station has lodged a case under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to rape and molestation and the accused has also been charged under Protection of Children from Sexual offence Act.”
The victim was happy at having been relieved of her woes. “This is a new beginning. I hate my father. Due to him, I conceived twice, but was given pills. I just want to gain education now. I wish I had confided in friend earlier,” she concluded.
