27-year-old techie, Anmol Jabbal, allegedly hit colleague Shradhha Chajed on the head with a spanner
Twenty-four-year-old Shradhha Chajed a techie, whose body was recovered in Vasmat near Nanded on July 29 was allegedly murdered by her colleague Anmol Jabbal (27).
'I was angry'
Jabbal, an MBA who works at Symantec, was arrested by the Chatushrungi police and he reportedly admitted that he murdered Chajed because he hated her.
"She hated me so much that if I touched her tiffin box, she would stop eating it. This made me very angry," said Jabbal during interrogation. Police sources said that the victim had taken driving lessons from Jabbal in the past.
On July 29, relatives of Chajed and Jabbal had registered a missing person complaint after they did not return home at their usual times. Jabbal, however, appeared at the police station on Sunday night and tried to mislead the police. He claimed that along with Chajed, he too had been abducted by two unidentified persons.
ACP M P Karade said, "We smelled a rat after he was unable to explain where the duo had taken her and whereu00a0u00a0 was he set free. On Monday morning, he confessed the crime."
Meanwhile, on July 29, Vasmat police station recovered a body of a girl at an isolated spot, an hour's drive Nanded. A complaint was registered against the unknown murderer under IPC 376 and 302 (rape and murder) due to the injury marks on the deceased's body. The viscera has been sent for chemical analysis to Aurangabad.
The crime
According to the police, Jabbal allegedly assaulted Chajed with a spanner in the parking lot of the Symantec in Baner. The impact of the attack was so severe that Chajed immediately fell unconscious. Then, he put her into the car and drove out of the premises without being noticed by the security guards.
PI Mahadev Chavan said, "Although, CCTV cameras have been installed in the parking lot, they do not cover the entire area."
DCP Mahesh Patil said, "According to initial reports, the cause of death was due to the head injury. The body also showed signs that the victim may have been smothered."
A company spokesperson said, "An investigation isu00a0 underway and we have no information to share at this time. We are cooperating with the law enforcement agency in their investigations."
Pradnyesh Navlakha, Chajed's cousin refused to comment.
