The Punjab Cricket Association is doing their best to salvage the careers of players who defected to the rebel Indian Cricket League. In fact, four of them u00c3u00a2u00c2u0080u00c2u0093 Sarabjit Singh, Vipul Shah, Reetinder Singh Sodhi and Love Ablish, who had switched loyalties, have already been accepted back into the Punjab fold.

However, the situation is not exactly the same for former India all-rounder Dinesh Mongia. The left-hander, who played a critical role in Leicestershire's wins on the county circuit, is still awaiting a clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) to get back to official cricket. It is believed that the ICL governing council has not given Mongia and four other players No Objection Certificates (NOC) following allegations of under-performance in the rebel Twenty20 league's second season last year.

Mongia has not been to the Punjab Cricket Association for months now. "Please keep me away from all this," Mongia said when asked if he had received his pass for today's day-night game. "At this point in time, I don't know what the future holds for me," he added.

However, curator Daljit Singh insisted that the former Punjab skipper is always welcome to the ground.

"He can come whenever he wants to. We have no problem whatsoever. And if there is a problem, we have MP Pandove (PCA secretary) to take care of it. Pandove is also actively involved with the Board's affairs," said Daljit.
