Condemned Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab (in pic) has addressed a mercy plea to the President, nearly three weeks after the Supreme Court upheld his death penalty for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, said an official yesterday.

The exact date when Qasab filed the mercy plea or its contents is not yet clear, nor is it known when it will be forwarded to the Union Home Ministry by the state government.

On August 29, the Supreme Court dismissed Qasab’s plea challenging his conviction and death sentence awarded in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack case. A copy of the apex court verdict was handed over to Qasab in jail last week.

Ten Pakistani gunmen, including Qasab, had created mayhem in south Mumbai for 60 hours from November 26, 2008, and left 166 people, including foreigners, dead.
