Terrorist had misguided investigators on Abu Jindal who taught Hindi to the 10 terrorists and even saw them off at Karachi harbour

Ajmal Amir Qasab, the lone surviving terrorist, stunned the special 26/11 court yesterday when he confessed to his involvement in the attacks.

He had shown no remorse and even laughed during earlier hearings when witnesses had narrated the horror of 26/11.

However, the Crime Branch may have to carefully examine all statements made by the terrorist, especially after he named Abu Jindal for the first time as one of the main handlers of the attacks.

Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told MiD DAY, "Qasab has been misguiding the investigators." A senior police officer said, "Jindal's name does not even figure in the charge sheet."

Qasab told the court that only the most important handlers of the mission saw them off on the Al Husseni ship off Karachi harbour. Jindal was one of them. The others were Abu Kafa, Abu Hamza and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

Police sources disclosed that Jindal taught Qasab and nine other terrorists to read and speak Hindi. He also knew Mumbai well.

Investigators suspect Jindal made several trips to Mumbai and learnt Bambaiyya Hindi. There's a strong possibility that he was in touch with the terrorists during the siege.
