Quartet held for assaulting Meeran Borwankar's son

Ankur Borwankar (20), son of former police commissioner ofthe city and Additional Director General (Prison) Meeran Borwankar, was assaulted by four persons on Baner Road on Monday night.

Officials of the Chatushringi police station swung into action after receiving a complaint call and arrested the quartet within three hours of the incident.u00a0


The arrested persons were identified as Dikyaram Ramal Meghawat (55), Bachanchan Wachya Ghanawat (19), Motya Ramal Meghawat (30) and Kishore Lachchha Ranawat (19), all residents of Sanjay Gandhi Vasahat in Pashan.


Officials said the incident took place at around 11.10 pm on Tuesday near the Green Park hotel on Baner Road. While Ankur and his brother were riding a motorcycle, the accused were travelling in a car.


They overtook their motorcycle and blocked their way. After that the accused got out of the car started abusing them. Apart from punching the duo, the four hurled stones for not allowing them to take over.

They said Ankur then approached the nearest police station and lodged complaint against the four. He provided the officials with the registration number of the car following which the four were held by 3 am.

“We have arrested them under relevant sections of the IPC,” said PSI S D Patil.u00a0
