Just when we thought that Reclamation would have an option other than good ol' Candies, our hopes were dashed quickly with beer and wine cafe Quench.
The place doesn't yet have its bar license, but you'll find a quirky little jeep-bar set-up, and beer and wine bottles for lamp shades, which add a super-cool touch.
But just as you get used to the warm, urban-kitsch decor, and might even be willing to overlook the temporary lack of alcohol, putting it down to red tape hassles, you find that there's no excuse for uninspired food.

The Loaded Potatoes (Rs 99), which came as a recommendation, were potato jackets stuffed with Parmesan cheese, bell pepper bits and herbs again a terribly average affair, but the cheese and herbs saved the dish.
We were told the Chicken Satay used peanut sauce, but turned out it was in fact flavoured with barbeque sauce and garnished with burnt basil leaves.

Either the service staff doesn't know what goes into the dish or the chef had planned a surprise. Cheese played saviour again when we chose the Chicken Sandman (Rs 249).
The menu described it as grilled breast of chicken stuffed with chopped spinach and mushroom cooked in spinach sauce with tomato confit.

The cheesy dish, which wasn't soaked in tomato pulp as we feared, was served with a portion of rice. The chicken could have been cooked better.

The Ratatouille, (Rs 229), which was recommended, would have made Remy, the star rat chef, weep.

The red sauce was slightly spicy and if this was the best that Quench could recommend, we didn't want to know what the rest of it tasted like.
Quench offers pocket-friendly prices, but that's all that's going for it right now. We're keeping our fingers crossed for a makeover.
