A very disturbing image has surfaced where a patient was clicked eating food straight from the floor of a hospital ward in Jharkhand capital Ranchi

A very disturbing image has surfaced where a patient was clicked eating food straight from the floor of a hospital ward in Jharkhand capital Ranchi.


The visual was captured by the newspaper Dainik Bhaskar at the state's biggest government hospital, the Ranchi Institute of Medical Sciences.



The woman has been identified as Palmati Devi. Her arms were wrapped in bandage as ate her meal of rice, dal and vegetables that ward boys served on the floor on Wednesday. She was also ordered to clean the floor.

Devi is a patient at the orthopaedic ward for a fractured hand. During lunch time, she didn't have her own plate and had asked for one, but was rudely told by kitchen staff who said there were none at the hospital

A lot of government hospitals have come under scanner after many instances of public apathy have come to the fore.

A tribal man was seen carrying the corpse of his mother, who died at Odisha's Jajpur District Hospital, in a trolley-rickshaw to her village. (Read more)

Last month, a man who lost his 12-year-old son,  had to forcibly carry him on his shoulder in a bid to get him admitted in a hospital after one medical centre in Uttar Pradesh refused to admit him. (Read more)
