Coach Praveen Amre is the first to admit that Mumbai has had a torrid time in the defence of their Ranji Trophy title this season.
Mumbai go into their quarter-final against Haryana that starts today with just one win from seven games. The reason for such a poor season considering Mumbai's record in the premier domestic competition is primarily the bowling.
"We have struggled to take 20 wickets this year and that has been the biggest problem," Amre said from Rohtak, the venue of the game.
Five bowlers
The struggle is all the more surprising considering that they have gone in with five specialist bowlers and all-rounder Abhishek Nayar in most games. Even veterans like Ajit Agarkar and Ramesh Powar have found it difficult to get wickets.
"Not a single bowler has managed to get a five-wicket haul this season and that has hurt us a lot, Amre said.
"Hopefully we can turn things around against Haryana."
