'Rang De Basanti' fame actor Siddharth slammed an advertisement, featuring Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, for being 'sexist'.

The ad shows Ranveer Singh, dressed in office wear, carrying a woman on his shoulder as a man grins and looks on. The hoarding reads, "Don't hold back. Take your work home."

Siddharth took to Twitter to share a picture of the clothing line commercial and wrote, "A new low for women's rights in the workplace in India. What were they thinking? #Fail"

Siddharth's tweet sparked outrage on social media with several users calling the ad 'sexist' and 'offensive'.

Noticing the furore over social media, the clothing brand replied to Siddharth's tweet and wrote, "@Actor_Siddharth We didn't intend to offend anyone with one of our billboards. #NOTHOLDINGBACK and withdrawing it immediately."

Ranveer Singh, who is busy with the promotions of his upcoming film 'Befikre', is yet to respond to the controversy.

Ranveer Singh has been part of controversial commercials before. Last year, an advertisement for an innerwear brand showed the actor wrestling a rubber shark. After objection by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the advertisement was run with a disclaimer.

Ranveer Singh's ads for a noodle brand, which he promotes as 'Ranveer Ching,' has also been criticised by many for being racist.
