Two Delhi police head constables received critical injuries after they were hit by a speeding Honda City, being driven by a woman in the Parliament Street area of New Delhi, on Thursday morning.

According to a police official, the incident took place around 8.15 am. The victim cops were identified as Rakesh (45) and Devki Nandan (47). They were on their way to the Parliament to attend a briefing by a senior officials in connection with the security measures of the Winter Session, when they met with the accident.

The official further said that a PCR call was made by a passerby around 8.30 am. Police immediately reached the spot and rushed the victims to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML).

According to the police, the Honda City was being driven by one Ritu (40), who is a housewife. After the incident, police arrested her from the spot, but later she was released on bail.

According to head constable and victim Devki Nandan, "When we were about to reach Parliament, a speeding Honda City hit us from behind. I got minor injuries but Rakesh has got both his legs fractured," Devki said.
