Pranay Merchant and Saumya Karki have been given pride of place among the under-19 boys and girls and are among the top juniors of the country who will vie for top honors in the Rs 2,69,000 prize money All-India Little Masters junior squash tournament to be played at Willingdon Sports Club from January 27 to 31.
The event, which is in its 16th year, has received a record number of entries which has touched 371. The categories which the tournament has been divided into are; boys' under-19, under-17, under-15, under-13, under-11 and girls under-19, under-15, under-13 and under-11.
The organisers have decided to have an event, like last year, for under-9 boys and girls.
The winner of the under-19 boys event will stand to gain Rs 40,000, while the runner-up will get Rs 20,000.
In the girls section, the under-19 winner will get Rs 25,000, while the runner-up will earn Rs 12,500.
