If they were to come together again, it would have been the mother of casting coups for director Anees Bazmee in his upcoming film, Welcome Back. A while back, producer Firoz Nadiadwala and the director had confirmed that they are in talks with Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha to act together in the sequel of the 2007 film Welcome.
Big B is stepping into the shoes of the late actor Feroz Khan in the sequel. Rekha was to essay the role of an affluent fashionista.
The veteran actress had apparently agreed to do the role but her dates are now clashing with Indra Kumar’s film, Super Nani.
According to a source, “Rekha and Amitabh had agreed to do the roles, but Rekha will not be a part of the film now. The dates she is required to shoot for Welcome Back are already given to Indra Kumar’s film.”
The source adds, “Neither Amitabh nor Rekha had expressed any apprehensions about working together in Welcome Back. They did have scenes together. Rekhaji had agreed to do the movie but she will be shooting in November and December for Super Nani and those dates she has given well in advance.”
The film’s makers were not available for comment.
