A politician in Chicago ended up in hospital with a skull fracture after a squirrel came in the path of his bike. The squirrel got entangled in the spokes, which led to Howard Brookins Jr losing balance and falling over.
According to Huffington Post, the incident occurred on November 13, and while, at the outset, it seemed like a freak one, Brookins did not feel so. He termed the ‘attack’ on him by the squirrel as one of revenge. In October, he had publicly criticised squirrels, saying they kept eating through the city-supplied garbage cans.
“I can think of no other reason for this squirrel’s actions than that it was like a suicide bomber, getting revenge,” Brookins was quoted as saying to The Star Tribune in the report.
The politician took to social media on Sunday to announce that he would be unable to attend events in the near future as he was recovering from injuries. Huffington Post, however, added that the squirrel may not have survived the incident, based on a photo posted by Brookins on social media.
