Risque outfits that Hollywood divas flaunted on the red carpet
Shayk, who is rumoured to have found love in Bradley Cooper, proved yet again as to why she is one of the most sought-after models of recent times. The Russian supermodel made her way to the Oscar after party in a ‘fresh off the runway’ Atelier Versace dress. The gown had a cutaway feature on one side and the ‘cut’ was replaced by sheer mesh bodysuit. Shayk completed her look with nude make-up and simple black heels. Was the toned down make-up a strategic step to not let our attention get diverted? Well, it surely didn’t.
For right reasons or wrong, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star knows how to get tongues wagging. Adding to the list of her many controversial attires was this white and gold sheer gown with a feather trail she wore to the Met Gala 2015, designed by Peter Dundas of Roberto Cavalli. The body-hugging nude silk tulle gown accentuated her assets and the sequin, crystals and ostrich plumes gave it an extra edge. Although Kim claims that this dress, which apparently is inspired by a look worn by pop-music icon Cher, is one of her favourites, we beg to differ. Kim has had better days.
Flashing her tattoos and a lot more, Rita Ora opted for a sheer number at the Oscar after party in February this year. The dress, designed by Donna Karan, left little to the imagination and had a sweeping opaque panel cutting down the front of her figure in a curved pattern, but we aren’t complaining. With a bod to warrant it, the sexy see-through dress suited her to the T. The 24-year old singer completed her look with cat eyeliner, earrings and bright red lipstick. She did keep up with her image of going all out at red carpets...literally!
Risqué need not mean sexy and Beyoncé’s sheer tulle evening dress by Givenchy, which was covered with multicoloured stones, is an example. Though flattering her curves, there was something amiss about the outfit. The ponytail and the make-up didn’t do anything to uplift her look either. We usually like Beyonce’s red-carpet choices, but this one was underwhelming.
Trust the singer-actress to rock risqué ensembles. Though she picked sheer outfits for almost all events this year, her Met Gala 2015 look deserves a special mention. Going commando, Lopez looked radiant in a red ombré Versace fishtail gown that had a skillfully placed sequin dragon design on it. With sleek tresses and simple make-up, Jennifer managed to turn a lot of heads and certainly made a lot of 45-year-olds envious.
She isn’t a household name yet, but the aspiring singer has taken fashion to an all-new level. Joy attended the Grammy Awards 2015 wearing an orange fence-like dress, which was apparently fashioned out of plastic construction site netting and was accompanied with a matching headpiece. Underneath she wore lacy underwear and nipple covers. Phew!
