Noted fashion designer Ritu Kumar has witnessed a lot of innovation in the world of fashion industry.

She tells CS, “When I started out in 1967, there was no fashion industry as such.

It was at a nascent stage. I revived hand block printing and worked around zardosi and embroidery which evolved over the years and was accepted by the masses.

Today, the fashion trends of Paris and London are followed.

People all over the world, including India, try to ape the dress culture of those places - most significiantly, the evening gowns which are worn by people all over the world.”
