Rio de Janeiro: Local Brazilian team Mogi Murim, whose player-chairman is 1999 world player of the year Rivaldo, has been banned for “racist acts,” the Sao Paulo Football Federation (FPF) said.
Visiting Santos midfielder Arouca reportedly bore the brunt of monkey chants during Wednesday’s 5-2 win at Mogi Mirim in the Sao Paulo League. “The suspension is necessary as the actions of supporters of Mogi Mirim indelibly stain sporting discipline and principles of civility,” FPF said. Rivaldo said statement : “If there has been a case of racism then I am against it.”
