Robbers loot bungalow as Shiv Sena leader out on poll campaign

Thane: Unidentified persons allegedly decamped with ornaments and cash worth over Rs three lakh rpt three lakh from the bungalow of a Shiv Sena leader here while she along with her family was off to Aurangabad for campaigning for the local body polls, police said.


The bungalow of Sena leader Meena Maruti Rathod in Dombivali area was also ransacked and set on fire, an official attached to Manpada police station said.


The leader, who was busy campaigning in Kannad in Aurangabad district for a local body election, which is slated to be held on December 18. Her family was also in Kannad, said the official.

As per the complaint filed by Rathod, she was informed about the the incident by her neighbours, the official added. Ornaments and cash worth Rs 3.12 lakh were stolen, police said, adding a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered in this regard.
