Four armed assailants attack trader's house at Gandhi Nagar; flee with cash and jewels worth Rs 7 lakh

The robbery took place in the Gandhi Nagar area of east Delhi at around 7.10 on Monday morning in the house of a 57-year-old garment trader, Mukut Bansal.
Bansal and his son were in the house at H-970, Chand Mohalla, while his wife had gone out to a nearby shop to buy milk.
According to the police, the four assailants, with their faces hidden behind masks, barged into the third floor of the three-storeyed building armed with country made weapons, knives and held the family hostage.

As soon as the four entered the house, they attacked Bansal's son Honey and held him hostage at gunpoint.
The robbers then asked for the keys to the lockers and started ransacking the house.
When Bansal's wife returned, the robbers caught her too. When she tried to sound an alarm she was beaten up.
The robbers also thrashed the maid when she came to do the daily chores.u00a0 The robbers locked the family in before fleeing.
In the police complaint, the family alleged they were threatened to stay silent. Minutes after the robbers fled, the family raised an alarm and their neighbours came to their rescue. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for first-aid.
A case under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. "We suspect an insider or someone known to the family is involved in the robbery. The victim lived on the third floor of the building while his business operations were conducted on the second and the third floors. The four were aware of this. They knew that there would be no one in the house in the morning," said a senior police official.
