A 27-year-old marketing assistant of an interior decoration firm in a bid to open his cyber caf ufffd staged a snatching drama involving Rs 5 lakh. The money belonged to his employer. But he was arrested by the police after CCTV footage exposed his game.
DCP of central district, Vivek Kishore said that the accused Amit Saini had suffered huge losses in cyber caf ufffd business. He wanted to open a new outlet again and so staged this drama of snatching. Police have recovered the money from his friend's home who lives in Gurgaon.
"On Saturday at around 1.30 pm, police received a PCR call of snatching of Rs 5 lakh. The accused Amit Saini was present there who was claiming that he was robbed to the tune of Rs five lakh by two bikers," said the DCP.
Police officials found contradictions in Amit's statement. Meanwhile, cops checked the CCTV footage of the area and found that Amit was not carrying any bag when he came to Karol Bagh. He was then thoroughly interrogated and he broke down and confessed to the crime.
