Who would have thought an Afghanistan bowler would be one of the most-feared bowlers in this year's Indian Premier League. Hyderabad Sunrisers (SRH) had no doubt about leg-spinner Rashid Khan's talent when they picked him up for Rs 4 crore at the auction. It is now proving to be the smartest buy by any teams in this edition.

Coach Tom Moody feels that Rashid has been a terrific find for the defending champions. Having former Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan as bowling coach has worked wonders for Rashid.

"The experience of playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL has been life-changing," he said after bagging the man-of-the-match award against Kings XI Punjab on Friday night. "Most of the Asian wickets are spin-friendly, so it is wonderful bowling on the Indian wickets. Having a legendary bowler like Muttiah Muralitharan, who is the highest wicket-taker in international cricket, as the coach is also working in my favour.

"I have been working hard with him during the practice sessions. He infuses confidence in me which motivates me to go out there and give my best. I feel fortunate to be playing with the big names in the IPL at such a young age," said Rashid (18).

"This experience is going to help me a great deal when I turn up for Afghanistan in the ODIs. I try to soak in what my seniors have to say about match situations, bowling skills and every other things during the course of a game. I am mentally preparing myself for the cricket ahead of me," the affable Afghani added.

It is a win-win situation for Rashid as well as Sunrisers. As the confidence and stature of Rashid grows during the course of the mega-event, it is going to benefit Sunrisers, who are looking good enough to repeat last year's title triumph.
