Rohith Vemula's suicide: Protest rally held in Mumbai

The fight for justice for Rohith Vemula continues all over the country. Many Ambedkarite, progressive and democratic organisations from Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai came together and formed a front on January 22, called Justice for Rohith - Joint Action Committee (JAC), Mumbai, under the guidance of advocate Prakash Ambedkar.

Students from IIT-Bombay, University of Mumbai, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Nirmala Niketan, Siddharth College, Government Law College, D G Ruparel College, St Xavier’s college etc are part of the front. The JAC, Mumbai, organised a protest rally from Byculla to Vidhan Bhavan yesterday, in which there were around 12,000 participants.

Among the demands of JAC, Mumbai are the arrest of Bandaru Dattatreya - Union Labour Minister, Smriti Irani - HRD Union minister, P Appa Rao - Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad, Ramchandra Rao - BJP MLC, Susheel Kumar - ABVP President; and the immediate removal of Rao from the post of Vice Chancellor.
