Says Roopkumar, “Sunali and I had gone for a dinner hosted by a family friend at Santa Cruz. It was in the mid-1980s. Khannasaab was also there at the party and he took us aside and asked us to sing for him. The song was Zindagi Ka Safar. Throughout the night he made us sing the track.
Finally, we left the place at 5 am. He then took us to his home Aashirwad. When we reached his bungalow, he said, “See, it’s dawn and the sea is looking so beautiful from the balcony. Please, sing that song for me once more.” We obliged and he was very happy. After that incident, he become quite close to us and often invited us home.”
