Bollywood films essentially deal with the notion of a perfect marriage and happily-ever-afters, and Shoojit Sircar's long-in-the-making production venture, RunningShaadi.com, is all that and yet different. The film will see 'Pink' girl Taapsee Pannu and Amit Sadh helping lovers elope and get married. For Shoojit, making the film was like revisiting old memories.

The filmmaker tells hitlist, "It [the coincidence] is funny, but I did elope to get married. It was with help from friends that I could take such a big step. I won't go into the details, but by God's grace, everything is fine today (laughs)."

What's more, Shoojit even helped a few of friends run away from home and get hitched. He reveals that the casting director of RunningShaadi.com also took the same route to tie the knot with his girlfriend. "Jogi hid in the terrace of my office building (in Juhu) for almost a day," he laughs and adds, "Then there was another friend who I helped get married in filmi style. I picked up the boy and the girl from their respective houses, drove them to the railway station and no one could locate them for more than a month. I had become the guy my friends' parents would warn them about."

No discussion with Shoojit is complete without the word 'football' being mentioned at least once. The filmmaker has often toyed with the idea of making a sports-based film, but nothing has materalised so far. "I would love to make a film on football, but I am yet to work on it," the filmmaker says and then quickly adds, "I once got close to making a sports film — a biopic on Mary Kom. I was working on the script, but dropped the idea when I heard someone else was making it. However, I still want to make a film on Mary Kom. That will happen some day."

Currently busy with a biopic on revolutionary Udham Singh, Shoojit says he is still hunting for an actor to play the lead character. "We have, however, already started shooting and worked on some special effects, too. The film will release this September," he says. Shoojit is also penning a love story along with Piku writer Juhi Chaturvedi.
