Former New Zealand captain Ken Rutherford is on cloud nine after his son Hamish scored a debut hundred in the ongoing Dunedin Test against New Zealand.
Rutherford Sr’s delight also stems from the fact that while he got a pair on Test debut against the mighty West Indies at Trinidad in 1985, his son slammed 171 on debut.

Ken said from Johannesburg where he works as a media executive: "I watched every ball of his innings on TV here. We spoke before the game, we mainly communicate by text and email. I went to New Zealand for the Twenty20 series but I have full-time job here in SA that precludes me from going to every game that Hamish plays.”
