Even as Team India is all set to miss Sachin Tendulkar 'the batsman' in the dressing room from now on, it will be almost impossible to do without Tendulkar 'the mentor.' And trust Tendulkar's fellow Mumbaikar in the side, Rohit Sharma to miss the Master most.

“Sachin’s presence in the dressing room will be missed a lot. Other than batting, he taught us so much. Things like how a player should conduct himself on the field or how one should prepare himself mentally while playing abroad.

When I toured Australia in 2008 and South Africa in 2010, I remember interacting with Sachin and he made me realise that it’s never easy playing in a foreign country. Now, I don’t know how the team will react to situations confronting them in the future.

It won’t be easy,” said Rohit at a packed post-match press conference after India beat West Indies on Day Three of the second Test by an innings and 126 runs to win the series 2-0.u00a0

Rohit has been having a blast in the recent past — having scored a double hundred against the Australians in the ODIs, followed by a 177 on Test debut against WI at the Eden Gardens and a 111 not out at Wankhede on Friday. The Wankhede ton though is special for him. “Scoring a ton always feels good but to do so in Sachin’s last match is very special,” he said.

Finally, Rohit admitted he is one of the fortunate few in the Indian team, who can enjoy access to Tendulkar even now given the proximity of their residences. “Whenever I have approached Sachin for help he has been very kind.

Even if I’m away playing and he’s found something wrong in my game, he has promptly sent across a message to me through someone or even messaged me personally. And from now on, if I need some help, I can just drive down to his home (both live in Bandra) to meet him, if he is free of course,” he signed off.u00a0
