Saina Nehwal breezes into Thailand GP Gold quarters
The Indian, who is the top seed in the tournament, took just 31 minutes to dispose off her second round opponent 21-13, 21-11. Saina put on a dominant display of her net game, winning 10 points to the Singaporean’s six.
Nagpur’s Arundhati Pantawane failed to get past the second round as she was soundly beaten 16-21, 13-21 by local shuttler and fifth seed Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles, Prannoy HS moved into the quarter-finals after ousting compatriot and 10th seed Anand Pawar 19-21, 21-13, 21-15.
Srikanth K, the 13th seed, beat Hwang Jong Soo of South Korea 21-19, 21-15 to book his place in the quarters. Sai Praneeth B, though, failed to emulate his countrymen, going down 18-21, 21-16, 19-21 to Indonesia’s Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo. Prannoy will next take on Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo while Srikanth will face off against South Korea’s Wan Ho Son.
