Saina will next take on Jie Yao of the Netherlands. Arvind Bhat and Gurusai Dutt also advanced to the second round of men's singles. Bhat defeated Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei 21-18, 21-15 while Dutt got the better of France's Brice Leverdez 21-11, 21-16.
