India's Saina Nehwal played party pooper at the Sudirman Cup yesterday as she battled to victory over China's World No 3 Wang Xin.

World No 4 Nehwal, made a fantastic start, racing to a 5-0 and then 16-11 lead ufffd to the shock of a sell-out crowd in the Chinese coastal city here. She sealed the game 21-15, sending a hushed silence around the partisan arena.
The 21-year-old Nehwal was just as emphatic at the start of the second game, surging ahead 4-1 and then 13-4. Wang made a half-hearted comeback but Nehwal hung on for a big point for India. "It's very good that I beat a Chinese player in China," said Nehwal. "China was a very tough tie for us and Wang Xin is obviously a very good player so I was expecting a tough fight. But I think the home pressure was too much, and I played pretty well today."
