The much talked about Govinda-Salman Khan friendship seems to have cooled. Proof? Govinda's absence from Salman Khan's birthday celebrations in Dubai. This, after Govinda has been keeping away, or has been kept away, from all post-Dabangg celebrations in the Khan family.

However, Govinda is still a part of the much-delayed Partner partnership, though the script for the comedy's sequel has gone back to the storyboard (again!). Apparently, the sequel, with Khan and Govinda playing the same characters as in the first movie, is not working out at the script level.

Sohail Khan, who is producing the Partner series, admits that the script for the sequel didn't work out. "It's now being reworked. There's no point in making a sequel until we're sure it will go beyond the first part. After Golmaal, we have to be careful with the content in the Partner sequel," he said, cautiously, before heading to Dubai to celebrate his brother's birthday.

Filmmaker David Dhawan is a bit more forthcoming. "We're working on another idea for Partner. In fact, I have two story ideas. And all I can tell you is that the sequel will be very different in theme and cast from the first."

Govinda says he is clueless about the sequel. "I haven't been told anything about it. I am waiting to sign some good films in 2011." As for not being part of Sallu's birthday entourage, he is evasive. "I couldn't be in Dubai, but I will call and wish him." Govinda claims that he is not anxious about his daughter's debut. "She wasn't happy with the offers she got. I don't want her to struggle with her launch. Jo hota hai woh achche ke liye hota hai (Whatever happens, happens for the best)."
