Mumbai Police say that the confession of Gurgaon gangster Sandeep Gadoli’s girlfriend Divya Pahuja will help their case and are planning to turn her into an approver
The very woman who was the undoing of Gurgaon gangster Sandeep Gadoli could now be the reason he will finally have justice in death. After months of evading and misleading the investigators, his 20-year-old girlfriend Divya Pahuja has finally spilled the beans about the alleged fake encounter in which he was shot dead by the Gurgaon police, also revealing how she and her mother were in on the plot.

Divya, who was arrested along with her mother Soniya by the Mumbai Crime Branch last month, is believed to have made a confession that will nail the accused Gurgaon cops.

One major confession is that Gadoli was unarmed when the cops barged into his hotel room and shot him — directly contradicting the cops’ claims that Gadoli was the one to open fire on them, forcing them to fire back in retaliation. She also explained how she passed on information to her mother, who in turn alerted the accused cops on the whereabouts of Gadoli.

“Apart from updating her location with profile photographs on Facebook, Divya used to talk to her mother frequently. Divya has told us that her mother, Soniya, was in touch with Gadoli’s rival Bijendra Gujjar who used to pass on information to ACP Rajesh Gujjar of Gurgaon Police,” said an officer from the Mumbai Crime Branch.
“The CCTV footage recovered from the hotel room also shows that the Gurgaon cops had planted the revolver on Gadoli after killing him in cold-blood. The footage is part of the crucial evidence in this case,” the officer added.
See-saw witness
Divya’s statement is invaluable to the case, since she was the sole eyewitness to the shootout that took place on February 7 at Airport Metro Hotel in Andheri. However, she has frustrated investigators several times in the past, with her see-sawing accounts of that fateful day. Till date, she had maintained that far from being part of it, she wasn’t even aware of the trap that Gurgaon cops had laid for Gadoli.

However, the gangster’s sister had told mid-day that Divya was used as a honeytrap to keep tabs on Gadoli and ensure that he was unarmed before the attack (‘How Haryana cops used girlfriend’s charm to disarm gangster Gadoli’, July 7).
However, there are chances that the Special Investigation Team might make her an approver to make a watertight case against the Gurgaon cops. The SIT has already made Gadoli’s friend Manish Khurana an approver, along with the two Russian girls who were in Gadoli’s entourage during his travels.
