White Feather and PNC clash over Kaante II

Sanjay Gupta has been planning on making a sequel to his 2005 blockbuster Kaante. But he isn't being allowed to do so.

Pritish Nandy Communications, the co-producers of the film, aren't willing to part with the title of the film Kaante II which they have registered.

A source in the industry says, "Gups plans to make the sequel but there is no way that film can be made till he resolves the title issue with PNC, who had registered the title of the film Kaante II, soon after Kaante released."

What problem?

Sanjay doesn't see a problem, "There is no issue. It is a mistake on the part of the association. I have the censor certificate on my name and the original title of Kaante is registered with my banner White Feather Films

I don't think there will a problem to get Kaante II as the title of my new film. I haven't spoken to PNC as yet on the issue but I am sure we will be able to sort this issue out amicably."

However, Pritish Nandy is adamant about not parting with the title, "We have no intentions of making Kaante II with Sanjay Gupta. We are making it with Sanjay Dutt, on whose request we produced the original.

When the two original producers are planning a sequel to the original film, why would anyone want to watch a wannabe sequel?"
