PM Narendra Modi, Prez Ghani to open Afghan peace meet today; Hurriyat calls for Indo-Pak talks

Pakistani envoy arrives early to avoid 'uncertain weather'

Amritsar: In a last-minute change in schedule, Pakistan’s de facto foreign policy chief Sartaj Aziz reached Amritsar on Saturday evening, instead of Sunday to attend the Heart of Asia conference, an official said, citing “uncertain weather forecast for Sunday” as the reason.

PM Modi met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani here for talks on bilateral issues, an official said. They also visited the Golden Temple together on the sidelines of the meet.

Meanwhile, Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said, said the Heart of Asia conference offers another opportunity to India and Pakistan to re-initiate the dialogue and move towards resolution of Kashmir issue.
