Officials of the Taj Enlighten Film Society also said that film scholars and academicians will interact with the audience and discuss Satyajit Ray's works. Some of Ray's best works, such as the Apu trilogy (Pather Panchali, Aparajito, Apur Sansar), Charulata, Agantuk, will be screened but there are no plans as of now to showcase Heerak Rajar Deshe and Sonar Kella.

Satyajit Ray's son Sandip, the National Film Development Corporation of India and the National Film Archive of India have lent their support to the endeavour.u00a0 Sandip is also planning a retrospective next year, which will be his father's 90th birth anniversary.
Satyajit Ray was a Bengali filmmaker, whose works are still considered to be the best to come from India. He was a commercial artist, but turned to filmmaking after watching French filmmaker Jean Renoir's film Bicycle Thieves. He directed 37 feature films, short films and documentaries. In 1992, the Academy Award committee recognised his contribution to cinema and awarded him with an Academy Honourary Award.
