Are you feeling bad about having missed the best of German beer brands at the Oktoberfest held last week? Well, don’t. You can still binge on some of the finest beers from Germany at a cheap rate in the Pune.
From Bavarian Wheat Beer, Monty Python and Apple Cider to a Dark Lager that’s still brewing, the 1st Brewhouse at Doolally on Tap is serving a variety of beers inspired by brew masters from across the world. The Adam’s Folly: Hard Cider is the best as the taste of apple wine in it makes it unique.
“Oktoberfest is to Germany, what Diwali is to India. It’s a complete riot for people of all generations. We have brewed Märzen, the historic forerunner of the Oktoberfestbier. We promise you won’t be able to put your mugs down!” says Oliver Schauf, a German national and brewmaster at Doolally Brewing Company.
Beer comes cheaper at just `100-150 a pint on weekdays. One can also enjoy starters like steaks, sausages, jumbo chicken wings and beer battered fish in the non-vegetarian section and vegetarians can enjoy items like Veg Cheese Kebab, Paneer Shaslik Indiana, Jalapeno Cheese Bites and lot more.
Foodies also get a taste of Germany with weekend barbecues of German bratwurst (a sausage usually composed of veal, pork or beef) and German cocktail sausages. You could also challenge your buddies over a game of foosball, table tennis and beer pong, while you chug a mug of your favourite lager. So, if you are up for a truly German binge drinking, filled with games, music and tons of beer, then say prost at Doolally.

What to enjoy
Four types of beers that can be enjoyed
Märzen is the historic forerunner of the Oktoberfestbier and the name comes from March in German. Marzenbier has a malty aroma and is a medium strong beer. It’s seasonal to the Oktoberfest and is offered as a traditional specialty. Slightly different roasting conditions lead to a slightly darker colour and a richer malty taste.
Bavarian Wheat Beer
This German style wheat beer is a summer-time favourite in the Bavarian beer-gardens. This brew is traditionally fermented with a special strain of top-fermenting yeast, which imparts it with a hint of cloves and bananas.
This English pale ale has a delicate mix of fruity, earthy and malty aromas with a slight hint of caramel. Medium-bodied with low carbonation, the English hop character of this pale ale keeps it interesting, yet it’s light enough to enliven your palate.
Adam’s Folly: Hard Cider
A sparkling apple wine made from the juice of sun-ripened apples and matured to perfection with French Champagne-yeast. Semi-dry and defiantly easy-drinking.
